newhive.com is hibernating
All existing newhives are saved, and most are archived at content.tnh.me/yourname/pagename/.I would love for NewHive to reawaken but support is needed. I'm still fully committed to providing a publishing platform giving full control to the users. This means:
- no advertisements on any user pages or indexes / searches of user content
- feed algorithms designed solely to provide the content you want
- fully open source
These are lofty goals and are very conflicting with making money. The founders tried their utmost to make it happen and failed. Now I, the CTO, need support from would-be users to continue the journey. If you'd like to support this, please PayPal dev@newhive.com along with a short note about who you are and what you'd like most to see happen. My current goals are:
- squash bugs
- storm: re-architect for optimum scalable performance by serving content directly from a Google Cloud template service
- revenue functionality:
- free accounts with limited storage / number of pages
- paid accounts
- ability to publish pay-to-access content
- bring site back online
- improve social features:
- create feeds that aggregate content around any given topic using a combination of users "votes" and machine learning
- improve integration with Twitter and Facebook
- improve navigation user experience:
- create a page flipper for easily moving through large collections (think books)
- better UI for everything involving collections / tags
- better bottom overlay for page's meta-content
- evolve editor into a container of creation tools:
- the existing free-form layout tool as the default
- a traditional document layout tool for article-like content
- file level access for web developers
- LaTeX support? Book publishing?
- possibly integration with libraries for interactive content
- genish.js for music composition and midi interaction
- processing.js and maybe three.js for rendering
- create a B corp with strict bi-laws enforcing user interests
